The great plain of Varas (which in part has different names: Llano
Humito for example) divides the hills of Carrera Pinto with the
"real" Pre-Cordillera with peaks up to 4700 meters high in this
sector (Co. Vicuña). The plain really has an unreal touch - for lack
of points known as trees or houses the human eye has no chance of
estimating distances. The heat is unbearable - the altitude of about
1800 meters does not help much in cooling the rocks in the burning
sun of the day. A walk a couple of meters in broad daylight shows us
quite quickly what the word DESERT means.

Oro.

(80 km)

Worth seeing: landscape, desert, historic mines.
