between Manto Verde and Inca de Oro.
(Kodak15015; W. Griem 2007):
The sector between Copiapó - Inca de Oro and Diego de Almagro stands
out for its one hundred percent desert character. Flats, dunes,
ravines and hills create a whole that is completely associated with
a desert. There are no populations - only mining camps. On the roads
the chusca (fine dust) is a faithful companion. The road Carrera
Pinto to Flamenco is a good and historical road, but nowadays not
the most used one - as Carrera Pinto is already depopulated and
Flamenco a tourist beach with almost no economic activity.
