The Amolanas aqueduct is an important witness of the architecture related to the mining of the 1890s. With the purpose of generating electric energy using the force of water. Unfortunately, in the following years mining entered a serious crisis, and at last this remarkable construction lost its usefulness. The construction of the Lautaro dam in 1930 disconnected it from its water source.

Location:
Today, the aqueduct is located directly below the Lautaro dam. The best way to reach it is via San Antonio - Lautaro. Before Lautaro turn right (Mina Amolanas), cross the river Copiapó and pass some wine slopes. The car is parked at the sign "Monumento Nacional" and the last 200 meters walk..
